Bethany Beach- July 4th

Here are a few pictures from our 4th of July at Bethany Beach. It rained REALLY hard just before dusk and cleared up not too long before these pictures were taken.

It is a good thing we left Allie up at the house with Grammie, Pop, and Aunt Joan to have a nice bath and cozy into her little bed. It was muggy and damp down by the water and there were these really annoying little gnats that no amount of bug spray would deter.

It was almost funny watching people come down off the boardwalk onto the beach. They would hit the swarms and start flailing around trying to get the little buggers off of them, with no success!

Obviously this guy didn't mind. He did his sparklers, played in the sand, watched the fireworks
and was in his bliss!

Bethany Beach

Well, right after we got home from our visit to Chicago we went to Bethany Beach for a couple days with Grammie, Pop, and Daddy.

We rode down after work on Friday and on the way down you decided you had to go potty. There was nowhere for us to stop right away and you told us you could wait. After another little bit, you started to sing "If you have to go to the potty" to the tune of the Veggie Tales song. That was a big hint to us that it was indeed time to take you to the potty. It was a long drive down so it was a good thing we stopped when we did.

You and Daddy had fun sleeping in the bunk room and playing in the sand. You woke up so early every morning. Good thing Mommy brought some DVDs and you sat in my room with me and watched movies until everyone else woke up.

After a long week, we decided to go home a little early. The ride home was long and we were all excited to get home to our own beds.

Beach Weekend

Now that Max is 6 months old (I KNOW!?!?!) we decided it was time to take him to the beach. We went "down the ocean", as they say in these parts, for a few days. Max did really well all weekend in a new place. He was sick before we went, I was hoping it was just teething, so we had two rough nights with him in the same room as us, our last night there was fine, but we decided it best that we come home, especially since mommy and daddy are now sick too.

As you can see, he loved the beach. He found the sand very interesting and when he wasn't trying to eat it, he was squishing it in his hands and feet. We washed his hands off in the water and boy oh boy did he like sucking his thumb after that. I don't think we've seen him suck his thumb for that long before.

Its about a 2.5 hour drive to Bethany Beach and Max did really well there and back. He just goes along for the ride, which is fabulous for us. He does like to have company with him back there, but that's OK, because mommy likes to play with him.
