Well, Allie is quite active lately, still not walking, but that's really OK with me for now. I did put her in the playpen the other day because she was trying to sit on the Roomba, play with my computer cord, etc. all while I was working from home in the afternoon. While in the playpen, she pulled herself up to stand. Now I am putting her in there all the time. She continues to pull herself up, problem with that is, she can't figure out how to sit back down and she just screams and cries :(
Max OH Max. Boy is this kid hilarious! I have to admit I'm a little nervous for him to start preschool in a couple weeks. Not because I'm worried about him in the slightest. I think he is so ready and I think he will do really well. He is just so smart and talkative that I am worried that he will dominate the class or correct his teacher or, oh I don't know...so many things.
Here are a couple examples:
Earlier this week he must have gotten up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. His underwear and pajama bottoms were on the bathroom floor. He was yelling in his room for someone to come open his door. We have turned his door knob around so his lock is on the outside and he somehow locked it before going back to bed. In his room, he has all new pajama bottoms on, yes, he takes it upon himself in the middle of the night to change his clothes, because he "dribbled" on the old ones. On the way to daycare, I explained to him that he must have locked the door before going back in his room. He told me No, a Monster must have done it. To which I replied, no, there are no monsters at my house. I've sent all monsters away and told them they weren't allowed at my house. He then asked, "Did you use Monster Spray?". Mind you, I've never mentioned the use of such a thing. "Of course I've used Monster Spray," I said, "but, how do you know about that, only Mommies know about Monster Spray." Max: "Yes, Mommies and really smart kids, I'm a really smart kid, that's how I know about Monster Spray".
At the grocery store I was in the candy isle getting Michael some candy and Max said he'd like some Lifesavers. I gave in because he had been really good. I asked if he wanted regular or chewy...chewy. Tropical or Original? Original (more like Owijinal) to which a lady in the isle chuckled and said "I bet those are Dewishis". Max sort of looked at her funny and said, "I think you mean DeLicious". LOL!
Oh boy!

The Proof is in the...um...Pool
Happy Birthday Angel!
Well, as any first birthday should go, it was full of many celebrations!
Grammie Jeannie and Poppa Leggs were here to help celebrate early in July. Presents and cake were abundant.
Don't dare take the cake away from this girl, you may lose your arm!
Two days before the BIG birthday, we took Allie to the emergency room. Pop was taking Allie out of the car and she got her fingers caught in the door. We thought she might need stitches and maybe her finger was broken. Turns out, they just super glued her finger and although initially they thought it was broken, we found out at her follow up appointment it was not.
As long as she's not doing this in appreciation of her presents when she's 16, I think we'll be OK.

Visit from the Chicagoians
Grammie, Pop and Auntie all drove out for a visit to see Max and Allie. Yes...to see Max and Allie. It was a short trip, but we managed to pack a lot in, mostly centered around baseball. Grammie brought Max a tee to play. He is so good at putting the ball on the tee and Pop taught him how to run the bases. It was funny that he would skip third if someone was coming at him to tag him out with the ball. He got a HOME RUN every time!
Max, clearly, was getting hotter and hotter as the game went on...

Allie's Extra Stay
Well, it turns out Allie was a bit jaundice causing us an extra stay at the hospital. Mommy was released from the hospital on Sunday and we were moved to pediatrics where Allie got to stay in a nice warm bed. As much as we hated seeing here in this little bed. She really did look cute and cozy in there with her sleeping mask on (Uncle Cashew's got nothin' on her!) and the blue lights. Also, she got a really nice tan in there, definitely enough to make her momma jealous.
Even after we got to go home, we had to have you on a biliblanket, it made you look like a little glow worm. After going to the hospital every day for the rest of the week, you finally got rid of all the bad stuff and pulled out of the jaundice. We were so relieved when we didn't have to watch you get your heel pricked every day!

Comparison
Max and Allie look so much alike. Below is a link back to when Max was about a week old and the blow picture is Allie, still in the hospital. They look so much alike it's scary.

Baby Allie Story
July 29th:
Well today Mommy and Daddy headed to the hospital to get baby sister out. When we got there the nurses came in to get some information and set-up my IVs. The one they started in my left arm was kinda sore and the nurse said to me "does that hurt?" to which I replied "actually it does, it's hurt since you put it in". When I looked down my arm was swollen about the size of an egg, I then proceeded to have a bit of a panic attack that lasted what seemed like forever. Daddy asked the nurses if he could get me some ice. He was able to give me some ice and wipe my head down until I finally started to pull out of it. It was kind of scary, but I just kept laughing, not believing that it was actually happening.
It turns out that we were supposed to be at the hospital at 5:30 pm and we were there at 5:30 am. The hospital had been expecting us, but my doctors were not. So...after a bit of confusion they began the induction anyway. Contractions started almost immediately, but were not very strong. We did manage to get a little bit of sleep, but not very much.

July 30th:
Well, not much happened over night. Our morning nurse came in pretty early, I think it was between 8 and 9 am. She said "I know they haven't told you this and I don't feel it's right, so I'm going to let you know that there's talk of you going home today." Talk about being disappointed. I was just in shock. I couldn't believe they were going to send me home. I guess that's what happens when they try to induce a pregnant woman who has no business being induced.
Well, probably not even 15 minutes later my doctor walked in and said, well let me check you...OK, I'm going to break you water. Well, talk about being on an emotional roller coaster. Geesh. OK...water broke, contractions are getting stronger, about an hour or so later they came and gave me the epidural. Ahhh...life is good. Well, no, no it's not...something turned very wrong, suddenly the pain medication wasn't working at all and I was in a lot of pain. A lot of pain doesn't even begin to describe the amount of excruciating pain I was in. The anesthesiologist came back in, did what he could to adjust things, the contractions got back under control. So much undercontrol that I couldn't feel ANYTHING from the waist down. I thought there was something left on my leg, turns out it was my own foot and I watched the nurse pick up and move my leg and it was like it wasn't even my own leg. SCARY!
It was about 12:30 when I called Grammie Jeannie and let her know, it was not quite "Go Time" like daddy had said, that things were progressing, but we weren't sure how long it would be. About oh, half hour or so later the anesthesiologist came in to check on me, I said I was fine, doing really well. No sooner did the man walk out the door when the pain started to come back! Daddy hit the call button, we let the doctor and the nurse know. The doctor took a look, said I think if you can push, we can get her out in about 20 minutes. I said, lets go for it. A few pushes later at about 1:27 baby sister was here.
