Go Orange!!

Max started soccer this year. He was so nervous so we talked about it. I think he was nervous to play in front of other people and that he wouldn't be good at it. He said he "felt better after we talked about it". Once practice was over he was so excited and now counts down the days until the next soccer practice.

Here's number 3 for the orange team!

Of course, sissy had to get in on the soccer fun too!
Personally, I think she is just in it for the snacks...LOL!

Funnies

Well, Allie is quite active lately, still not walking, but that's really OK with me for now.  I did put her in the playpen the other day because she was trying to sit on the Roomba, play with my computer cord, etc. all while I was working from home in the afternoon.  While in the playpen, she pulled herself up to stand.  Now I am putting her in there all the time.  She continues to pull herself up, problem with that is, she can't figure out how to sit back down and she just screams and cries :(

Max OH Max.  Boy is this kid hilarious!  I have to admit I'm a little nervous for him to start preschool in a couple weeks.  Not because I'm worried about him in the slightest.  I think he is so ready and I think he will do really well.  He is just so smart and talkative that I am worried that he will dominate the class or correct his teacher or, oh I don't know...so many things.

Here are a couple examples:

Earlier this week he must have gotten up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.  His underwear and pajama bottoms were on the bathroom floor.  He was yelling in his room for someone to come open his door.  We have turned his door knob around so his lock is on the outside and he somehow locked it before going back to bed.  In his room, he has all new pajama bottoms on, yes, he takes it upon himself in the middle of the night to change his clothes, because he "dribbled" on the old ones.  On the way to daycare, I explained to him that he must have locked the door before going back in his room.  He told me No, a Monster must have done it.  To which I replied, no, there are no monsters at my house.  I've sent all monsters away and told them they weren't allowed at my house.  He then asked, "Did you use Monster Spray?".  Mind you, I've never mentioned the use of such a thing.  "Of course I've used Monster Spray," I said, "but, how do you know about that, only Mommies know about Monster Spray."  Max: "Yes, Mommies and really smart kids, I'm a really smart kid, that's how I know about Monster Spray".

At the grocery store I was in the candy isle getting Michael some candy and Max said he'd like some Lifesavers.  I gave in because he had been really good.  I asked if he wanted regular or chewy...chewy.  Tropical or Original?  Original (more like Owijinal) to which a lady in the isle chuckled and said "I bet those are Dewishis".  Max sort of looked at her funny and said, "I think you mean DeLicious".  LOL!

Oh boy!

Max Speaks

A few funnies that I want to remember:

Word: Max
Fabulous: Fableeous
Ridiculous: Ridicleeous
Thunder: Funder
Joseph: Jofess

We were also riding in the car and he was telling me he wanted something for his birthday. I can not for the life of me remember the "non" word he used. He did tell me his friend Alani had one at her birthday, how he know this I'm not sure. It should also be noted that this was July and her birthday is in December. I kept trying to figure out what he was saying and and the more I tried the more frustrated he got. Finally he said...UGH! Mom! You know, the thing that you hit with a stick and candy comes out. LOL! I busted out laughing and said OH! A Pinata, to which he replied, "How did you say that?" and we spent the next few minutes in the car practicing Pin Ya Ta.

The Proof is in the...um...Pool

Well, Max has had a tough time getting in the BIG pool again this year. Just to prove to ourselves that he really did get in and he really was brave about it and he really did like it I thought I'd put the proof out on the web.

Allie, on the other hand, has no issues...LOVES IT!

Conversations with Max

Boy OH Boy! Max is just a talking machine. He loves to tell stories, ask questions, tease, tell jokes. He's just so funny. We spend lots of time in the car together during the week since he is at daycare 3 days. It takes us about 30 minutes to get to and from daycare so that's an hour a day before and after work that we have time, basically, to ourselves. Allie does "chime in" once in a while, but she usually just listens to big brother.

Yesterday we were in the car and he asked me if birds were awake all the time, even at night. I told him that they slept at night just like he did. I then went on to tell him that owls and bats were nocturnal (yes, I know bat's aren't birds). I asked him if he could say nocturnal and he said nocturtle. I sort of chuckled and corrected him. He then said nocturnal correctly, thought a second and then said..."I like nocturtle better. It's like knock it off turtle!" We both had quite a good laugh from that one. He also went on to tell me that there were two types of bats...ones that could fly, and ones that couldn't...like the kind you play with. HA!

Earlier this week Max was up very early as he is most days because it's light out so early (Yes! He does have room darkening shades). He came into our room and used our bathroom and I asked him to go back quietly to his room. About 10 minutes later I heard the toilet down the hall flush. Not wanting to go see what was up I waited until he came back to our room, oh 15 or 20 minutes after the flush. I asked him why he flushed the toilet he looked at me, wide eyed, and said, "I had my hand's over my ears you weren't supposed to hear that!"

Visit from the Chicagoians

Grammie, Pop and Auntie all drove out for a visit to see Max and Allie. Yes...to see Max and Allie. It was a short trip, but we managed to pack a lot in, mostly centered around baseball. Grammie brought Max a tee to play. He is so good at putting the ball on the tee and Pop taught him how to run the bases. It was funny that he would skip third if someone was coming at him to tag him out with the ball. He got a HOME RUN every time!

Max, clearly, was getting hotter and hotter as the game went on...

The boys even got in an Ironbirds game Friday evening, complete with fireworks!

Allie got in a photo session with Grammie. The bunny is from Grammie and Pop, just like big brothers (only A LOT bigger and a lot more pink ).

Farm Fair 2010

While Mommy and Daddy were at the hospital, Grammie and Pop took you to the farm fair. You had such a great time this year. Last year was a bit of a different story (check it out here: http://diegelduo.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html). You even asked to get in and ride the goats. I couldn't believe it. I only wish I could have seen it for myself. There's always next year.

As always, the tractors are your favorite. You love to climb all over the BIG tractors and...

be sure to cover yor ears watching the tractor pulls!

Comparison

Max and Allie look so much alike. Below is a link back to when Max was about a week old and the blow picture is Allie, still in the hospital. They look so much alike it's scary.

Max, meet Allie

Well, we are so excited to announce that there is a new addition to our family!

Alexandra (Allie) Cass Diegel arrived on July 30, 2010 at 1:26pm weighing 8lb 12 oz, 20 1/2 inches long.

As you can see, big brother Max is just totally in love with his new little sister. He loves to tickle her nose.

Hold her and give her kisses.

Let's just hope it stays that way.

Baby Allie Story

July 29th:
Well today Mommy and Daddy headed to the hospital to get baby sister out. When we got there the nurses came in to get some information and set-up my IVs. The one they started in my left arm was kinda sore and the nurse said to me "does that hurt?" to which I replied "actually it does, it's hurt since you put it in". When I looked down my arm was swollen about the size of an egg, I then proceeded to have a bit of a panic attack that lasted what seemed like forever. Daddy asked the nurses if he could get me some ice. He was able to give me some ice and wipe my head down until I finally started to pull out of it. It was kind of scary, but I just kept laughing, not believing that it was actually happening.

It turns out that we were supposed to be at the hospital at 5:30 pm and we were there at 5:30 am. The hospital had been expecting us, but my doctors were not. So...after a bit of confusion they began the induction anyway. Contractions started almost immediately, but were not very strong. We did manage to get a little bit of sleep, but not very much.

July 30th:
Well, not much happened over night. Our morning nurse came in pretty early, I think it was between 8 and 9 am. She said "I know they haven't told you this and I don't feel it's right, so I'm going to let you know that there's talk of you going home today." Talk about being disappointed. I was just in shock. I couldn't believe they were going to send me home. I guess that's what happens when they try to induce a pregnant woman who has no business being induced.

Well, probably not even 15 minutes later my doctor walked in and said, well let me check you...OK, I'm going to break you water. Well, talk about being on an emotional roller coaster. Geesh. OK...water broke, contractions are getting stronger, about an hour or so later they came and gave me the epidural. Ahhh...life is good. Well, no, no it's not...something turned very wrong, suddenly the pain medication wasn't working at all and I was in a lot of pain. A lot of pain doesn't even begin to describe the amount of excruciating pain I was in. The anesthesiologist came back in, did what he could to adjust things, the contractions got back under control. So much undercontrol that I couldn't feel ANYTHING from the waist down. I thought there was something left on my leg, turns out it was my own foot and I watched the nurse pick up and move my leg and it was like it wasn't even my own leg. SCARY!

It was about 12:30 when I called Grammie Jeannie and let her know, it was not quite "Go Time" like daddy had said, that things were progressing, but we weren't sure how long it would be. About oh, half hour or so later the anesthesiologist came in to check on me, I said I was fine, doing really well. No sooner did the man walk out the door when the pain started to come back! Daddy hit the call button, we let the doctor and the nurse know. The doctor took a look, said I think if you can push, we can get her out in about 20 minutes. I said, lets go for it. A few pushes later at about 1:27 baby sister was here.
