Month of Firsts

April…whew! That flew by! It was a month of first for our little BIG guy! As you know he got his first cereal, but he also got his first cookie while Grandma and Auntie Em were visiting. As you can see, he thoroughly enjoyed it!

He also tried his first sips out of a big boy cup. He wasn't quite as successful at that, and maybe we're pushing it a bit, but it's so fun to try things with him and see what his reaction will be. He will pretty much let you do anything to him, and he will definately let you know when he doesn't like what you're doing, or when you've gone too far. He is practically holding the bottle by himself.
He's also had 1/2 of one Cheerio (yes, you read that right). I was sitting with him while I ate a bowl of cereal before leaving for work, he had already eaten, but kept grabbing at my bowl so I decided to let him try a Cheerio. The first time he just turned his head, grabbed at my bowl again, so I held a piece out in front of him. He grabbed my hand with both of his hands and put it in his mouth. I thought for sure he'd spit it back out. After a minute, I did a swipe through his mouth and gone! I couldn't believe it. I've tried once or twice since then, but he's not interested. Oh, well...soon enough.

April Update

Ok, so I’m lousy at this whole blogging thing. I just can’t seem to find the time to get it updated when I get home from work and work has us blocked from EVERYTHING that could possibly be personal use. It is, however, time for that update on Max…his stats, ya know.

Well, to our amazement, or not, our little bundle weighed in at 18 lbs and he is 27 inches long. We know he’s heavy, so no, we weren’t that surprised when the Doc said, 18 lbs…we were more surprised that it wasn’t 20! The Doc also asked if we were feeding him cereal yet…no. His response? Start! Well, since the bottles he takes are full to the top, I was hoping he would say that. Since the introduction of cereal, things have been quite messy around here. We’ve had a few explosions (or as Auntie Em says “ass-plosions”). I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like when we introduce peas and prunes…YICK!

In other updates, it amazes us everyday how much he changes so quickly. One day he can’t catch his thumb as it flies past his face, the next day he’s putting his bink in his mouth by himself. His dexterity improves more and more all the time. He’s still not rolling all the way over. He will roll from his back to his side, but that’s as far as he gets. OH! And the Johnny Jumper...he just LOVES that! He has the most fun ever when he's just jumping away in the doorway. I'm pretty sure he jumps higher than Auntie Em. I think he'd stay in there for an hour or more if we let him...oops! we do!
