Max stories

Why the Evergreen Never Loses I'ts Leaves:
Max's teacher read him this poem the other day in preschool.  When I picked the kids up from daycare that evening Max was asking me all sorts of questions about pine needles and I really had no idea where it was coming from.  I asked him if his teacher read him a story he said she did and when I asked him what it was about he started reciting the story to me.  He went through a few different animals always saying "can I use your tree to rest my tired wings (or something else)".  I didn't know anything about the poem, or the story, but turns out, he must have really been listening.  It was funny to hear him tell his version of this story.  He's quite the story teller.

Satellite:
On the way to daycare this morning we heard the DJ on the radio telling about the satellite that is supposed to come back to earth.  The DJ said, "The satellite is about the size of a school bus circling in space".  Max shot up real straight, said "There's a school bus circling space!"  I burst out laughing, and told him no.  He said, "I heard him, that's what he said".  I then repeated what the man actually said and that started a whole host of questions.  What's a satellite?  Are their aliens in space?  Oh, my goodness.  He's just so funny.

The Trees Come Down

I found these pictures of Max when I was doing the last post.  There were some trees at Grammie and Pop's that needed to come down.  Max was so excited, I'm not even sure he ate his breakfast that day.  Or maybe he ate it right here on his perch.  The tree guys set him up with the proper safety gear and he was a happy guy!

The Kingdom for Kids

We have had tickets for Dutch Wonderland all season and finally took the kids (OK Max) on a surprise trip there on Saturday (more on this below).  We had such a great time, only rode about 4 things, and then it down poured.  We got rain tickets so there will definitely be a take two for this trip!

On the way there we saw this sign...In case you can't read it it says Look Left- Right- Left Before Pulling Out.  We got the biggest kick out if it...you'd think that would be common sense?

I could not believe that my Max, who is very timid about things, wanted to go on every single ride, we will be going back so he can do just that!  He is a little too small for the BIG roller toaster (coaster), and the little one was "Temporarily Out of Service", so hopefully when we go back that will be in order.

Max and Daddy on the The Twister:

Max, Daddy and Allie on the Fun Slide:

Max, finally getting to ride a pony:

The Merry-go-Round:  Funny story for this.  Michael was on one of the horses with Allie and the old man running the ride said, "One Rider per Horse Sir"  Michael sort of looked at him funny and he repeated himself, so Michael got off the horse and held Allie on the horse, she was not pleased and he ended up having to hold her during the ride because she didn't really like it.  What is so funny to me is that most men who would be riding with their kids weigh more than Michael and Allie combined.  Just got a kick out of it.

Mommy and Max on the Kite Flight:

Another quick story: The outlets are right across the street from Dutch Wonderland.  When we were trying to pull out on the main drag there was a ton of traffic and this BIG charter bus was about two cars behind us and honking at all of us to get out, well, there was no where to get out.  The bus all the sudden pulls up next to us and then just pulls out in front of all these cars, blocking everyone without a care in the world, it was so funny and scary all at the same time.  We were thankful he blocked the traffic so we could get out.  Then, Max sees the outlets and was really excited that we were going to go shopping!  We were cracking up then I told him to look out the other window and there's this HUGE Castle and a big roller coaster.  He immediately of course wanted to go to that place and ride all the rides.  He could not believe it when we told him we were NOT going to the outlets to go shopping, but to Dutch Wonderland instead!

Max goes to Preschool

The preschool Max goes to does this gradual entry thing, so the official first full-day of preschool isn't until next Wednesday, but we are doing this now.  Today was the day Max got to go to school for one hour, with mommy.  I don't think he really wanted me there, but oh well.  He is so excited to go by himself, I think he even thinks the gradual entry is a little silly.  Friday he will go one hour by himself.

See how excited he is!  LOL!

Based on our class today I have a feeling Max is going to be "that kid".  Oh boy!  I hope they help him out and don't get too frustrated with him.  I can not tell you how many times he said "Mrs. Messick, Excuse me Mrs. Messick" in the hour we were there.  I kept poking him or tugging on his shirt to get him to be quiet.  All I really wanted to do was crawl under the table!  At least he was being polite...HA!

On Friday he can bring a stuffed animal, next Wednesday is Red day, so he can wear a Red shirt.  Mommy had to make Red play dough for this Friday.  Hopefully this new calendar I made will help us keep it all straight!  Geesh!

P.S.  You know you've officially started school when there are 4 Scholastic book order forms in your cubbie the first day of school ;)

Preschool...Oh Boy!

I can't believe it. It's here, it's really here. Max is starting preschool. NO WAY! Shut the Front Door! My baby is NOT starting preschool. Well, ya, he is! He is so excited and I'm so excited for him.  I never got go to go preschool, so I feel like I'm getting to go too.  Today was the day we got go go meet his teacher, Mrs. Messick.  He was so excited.  The entire way to the school, he kept asking, "how do we get there, is this the way to the school, this is the way to Panera, I don't think this is the right way for school.  I did not know my school was right by Panera, how cool."  OMG!  It was so funny, I think he was about to burst before we got in the door.

We took a look at his cubbie (and the play ground) and his hook.

He was very excited that there were trucks and a kitchen.

As you can see, Sissy was just thrilled to take it all in.  HA!

Funnies

Well, Allie is quite active lately, still not walking, but that's really OK with me for now.  I did put her in the playpen the other day because she was trying to sit on the Roomba, play with my computer cord, etc. all while I was working from home in the afternoon.  While in the playpen, she pulled herself up to stand.  Now I am putting her in there all the time.  She continues to pull herself up, problem with that is, she can't figure out how to sit back down and she just screams and cries :(

Max OH Max.  Boy is this kid hilarious!  I have to admit I'm a little nervous for him to start preschool in a couple weeks.  Not because I'm worried about him in the slightest.  I think he is so ready and I think he will do really well.  He is just so smart and talkative that I am worried that he will dominate the class or correct his teacher or, oh I don't know...so many things.

Here are a couple examples:

Earlier this week he must have gotten up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.  His underwear and pajama bottoms were on the bathroom floor.  He was yelling in his room for someone to come open his door.  We have turned his door knob around so his lock is on the outside and he somehow locked it before going back to bed.  In his room, he has all new pajama bottoms on, yes, he takes it upon himself in the middle of the night to change his clothes, because he "dribbled" on the old ones.  On the way to daycare, I explained to him that he must have locked the door before going back in his room.  He told me No, a Monster must have done it.  To which I replied, no, there are no monsters at my house.  I've sent all monsters away and told them they weren't allowed at my house.  He then asked, "Did you use Monster Spray?".  Mind you, I've never mentioned the use of such a thing.  "Of course I've used Monster Spray," I said, "but, how do you know about that, only Mommies know about Monster Spray."  Max: "Yes, Mommies and really smart kids, I'm a really smart kid, that's how I know about Monster Spray".

At the grocery store I was in the candy isle getting Michael some candy and Max said he'd like some Lifesavers.  I gave in because he had been really good.  I asked if he wanted regular or chewy...chewy.  Tropical or Original?  Original (more like Owijinal) to which a lady in the isle chuckled and said "I bet those are Dewishis".  Max sort of looked at her funny and said, "I think you mean DeLicious".  LOL!

Oh boy!
